Palm Beach Kennel Club - How to Handicap This Top Greyhound Track

The only bad thing I have to say about Palm Beach Kennel Club is that the food is so good, I gain a pound for every program I go to there. If you have a chance to visit their Paddock restaurant, you'll know what I mean. The food is superb and the view of the races is great entertainment while you eat.

I learned early on that speed is what you have to bet at Palm Beach, but for a long while I didn't realize why that was. I figured they had a harder track surface than most, which can lead to speedsters doing well, but the second season I went there, I realized why speed is the bomb at PBKC.

Their sprint races may say 5/16ths of a mile in the program, but they're actually 545 yds, which is shorter than most 5/16th races. Most other tracks are 550 yds, which is another 15 ft. That might not seem like much to you, but if you were running it at up to 45 mph, you'd realize that it's a big deal.

Add to this that the home stretch at Palm Beach is shorter also, and you can see why breakers win over closers almost every time. There just isn't enough time for the closers to make their move at the end of the race. Just knowing those two things, which I found out at the Trackinfo site, which has the statistics on all the US tracks, is like having a serious edge on the other bettors.

It's little things like this that can really help your handicapping and your bankroll. At a track like PBKC where the pools are in the double-digit thousands, it's good to have a little more information than the average punter, don't you think?
